I found this satire to be extremely interesting. What I got from reading this was that in schools, because children are expected to be well rounded in all areas of studies, if one falls behind in a class, time is used more on that class than any other causing the child to fall behind in something they are usually good at. The satire used animals instead of people and although they were different subjects, one could relate back to themselves. The school in the satire is like the schools in America today. Personally, the subject that I struggled the most in was math. Although I may have done well in every other subject that I took, I would always focus on math and if that wasn't good enough, then the other subjects weren't either. I also spent so much time on math sometimes that I would neglect other subjects. This reflects poorly on me when it starts to look like I do not do well in any subject. I found this satire to be very amusing and entertaining because as a satire does, it portrays the truth in a sarcastic way.
Honest College Ad
I found this satire to be very funny. When we first watched it in class, it made me think back to Bloomsburg and how we compare to this so-called "college". I found a lot of similarities, which part of me was shocked about, and another part of me wasn't. I think a lot of colleges are just like this "Honest College" ad and the satire really did its' job of making people think about what college is really like. A lot of aspects were taken to an extreme in this ad but truly a lot of these things happen in college. The partying, the kids not hanging out with people of different culture, the teachers, etc. Anyone would be in denial if they believe that college is strictly for learning. As far as the social aspect of college, this ad got it right. It was an amusing way to put forth the truth about college life.
